ALDA Suncoast is a Chapter of the Association of Late Deafened Adults. We are located in Florida. Most of our members are from the Suncoast area of Florida, around Tampa Bay. We have area residents and snow birds but people from any location are welcome to join.

ALDA Suncoast Mission

We provide opportunities for late-deafened and hard of hearing people to socialize in ways that return a sense of normalcy, a sense of belonging.

About ALDA Suncoast

If you have lost some or all of your hearing or know someone who has, you are one of us! We are a support group for late-deafened adults. We meet in one of the three Tampa Bay Area counties once a month to learn and share our experiences or just to socialize with people that we can communicate with, maybe take in a captioned movie or just go some place for happy hour. Members will share their own stories of deafness, listen to yours and give you tips, tricks, apps that will help you continue to live life to the fullest with hearing loss.

We know how stressful coping with hearing loss can be and how communicating can sometimes feel like it is you against the world. That's why our motto is "whatever works" when it comes to communicating. Sign language, speech reading, or written notes, using captioning apps, or apps to type and read, all forms of communication are welcome here. No one is judged and we try to make everyone feel at home.

If this sounds like the place for you, join us. We look forward to meeting you!

Inclusion:

As an organization for people with hearing loss, we strive for inclusion, diversity, and equality for all. We have been on the receiving end of discrimination for our hearing loss so we encourage a truly safe, respectful, and non-violent whole community. We wish to offer our deepest condolences to all families and friends of those who have been on the receiving end of acts of injustice, discrimination, and violence.

ALDA Suncoast welcomes everyone regardless of race, nationality, gender, sexual preference or identity. Some of our members might not have met someone like you so please feel free to gently correct your pronouns or speak about your religious dress, etc. so we can try not to offend.
